This Blueberry Pie Cheese Ball is the perfect appetizer or dessert for your next family gathering! Only 5 ingredients (made healthier with siggi’s yogurt)!
I received free coupons for siggi’s yogurt mentioned in this post. By posting this recipe I am entering a recipe contest sponsored by siggi’s yogurt and am eligible to win prizes associated with the contest. I was not compensated for my time. All opinions are my own.
One of the first things that comes to my mind when I think of the holidays is the food that often accompanies it. Today’s recipe is a nod to the upcoming holiday parties in which you are asked to bring something. Everyone will think you put in a bunch of time and effort into making this recipe, when it only took you 10 minutes! Plus, did I mention it is a healthier recipe? This is still definitely a dessert recipe, but it is oh so good and packs a ton of protein.
I was a little afraid the consistency of this recipe would be too soft for a cheese ball, using mostly yogurt. But, it turned out great. You won’t be able to use regular yogurt for this recipe, though. It definitely has to be siggi’s Icelandic style skyr yogurt. This is because the whey has been strained from siggi’s yogurt, making it a much thicker and creamier consistency than other yogurts (even thicker than Greek yogurt).
As stated on the siggi’s website, “siggi’s products do not contain any artificial preservatives, thickeners, sweeteners, flavors or colors, and are made with milk from family farms who do not use growth hormones such as rBGH.” As a dietitian, I especially love their philosophy of “simple ingredients, not a lot of sugar.” And it’s true – their blueberry yogurt only has 5 ingredients…5! I know I can eat siggi’s yogurt and feel good about what is going into my body!
This Blueberry Pie Cheese Ball is so easy, it’s ridiculous. First off, like siggi’s yogurt – the ingredients are simple – there are only 5 ingredients in this cheese ball! All you do is blend together the yogurt, cream cheese and vanilla extract. Then, fold in the blueberries. (I actually chose to use the blender to add in the blueberries so they would be a bit smushed, but if you would prefer to keep them whole then fold them in). Place the mixture on a serving dish in a ball and gently press the chopped pecans over the entire surface. Voila! You’re done. Serve with graham crackers or vanilla wafers or whatever else you want and enjoy! Oh, and try to save some for the others! 😉
