Cool down with this refreshing homemade Cherry Limeade. The right balance of sweetness and tang to keep your tastebuds invigorated and satisfied.
It’s The Recipe ReDux time again! This month’s theme is all about the drinks:
“Mocktails and Cocktails for May Celebrations – Showers and celebrations abound this time of year. Show us your colorful drink concoctions for festivities with friends.”
I am normally a water drinker. Day in, day out, water is my beverage of choice. But I do have one guilty pleasure when it comes to drinks: Sonic Cherry Limeade. I only get it a few times a year, and I really enjoy it when I do.
So I knew I had to remake my own version for this month’s Recipe ReDux challenge. I use no refined sugars in this recipe – only what comes natural from the fruit and some honey. To make it fizzy I used sparkling water with natural lime flavors. I used La Croix brand, but you can choose whichever brand you prefer. Just make sure not to get one with any added sugars or artificial sweeteners.
And darn it, make sure you enjoy this cherry limeade when you make it! This is still a sweet drink with plenty of sugar in it (albeit natural sugars, but nonetheless sugars) – so don’t make this an every day drink. But on a fun occasion I say, Why not! Have fun, drink up and enjoy life!
