This simple fall trail mix combines classic fall ingredients and flavors into one delicious sweet and savory portable snack!
I love fall! With fall comes sweater weather, hometown football games, Saturday soccer games, leaves turning beautiful shades of autumn and of course, fall foods! Pumpkin, apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, pecans, pears, and more all make up the flavors of fall! Fall is also a great time to go hiking here in Utah. The canyons are absolutely beautiful this time of year! Whenever I go hiking, I always like to take a snack along.
Hence, this recipe is inspired by some of my favorite fall foods and a favorite fall activity – Fall Trail Mix! A fun and simple fall flavored snack to take along wherever you go! You can certainly take some on a hike with you, but the list doesn’t end there. Serve it at a party an appetizer, enjoy a handful after a workout, take some to work for your afternoon pick-me-up or give some to the kids as an after school snack (beware of choking hazard of nuts for small children).
If you’ve never made a trail mix before, it really is quite simple. Choose all of your ingredients, or add-ins, then mix them all together! Besides the usual nuts, dried fruit, seeds and chocolate, I added in a special ingredient: pumpkin pie spice! Adding the spice really puts the fall in this fall trail mix.
