As a registered dietitian I know the importance of eating a nutritious breakfast. That being said, I also know that breakfast is the most common meal for people to skip. For clients who have a hard time fitting in breakfast, I often recommend Carnation Breakfast Essentials®.
I also personally use Carnation Breakfast Essentials® in my home, specifically with my toddler to help him get in the nutrients he needs. Toddlers are notorious for being picky eaters. Mine is no exception. My son has also been on the bottom end of the percentiles for weight since he was born. Getting him to gain weight is a struggle and when he doesn’t eat very much it doesn’t help!
To help, I turn to power packing his food – getting the most calorie and nutritional bang for my buck in each bite he takes. Carnation Breakfast Essentials® allows me to add just that – calories and nutrition that I can feel good about giving to him.
As for me, I always eat breakfast. I love all things breakfast foods and wouldn’t make it through the morning if I didn’t eat something. If I exercise in the morning, I usually eat breakfast afterwards (I can’t exercise on a full stomach), other than that breakfast is at the top of my list!
Making a breakfast my toddler will eat is also something I try to do each morning – but that is a little harder for me. Sometimes it is just cereal (hot or cold), other times I like to cook up something a little more than that – it depends on my mood and the amount of time I have.
As part of the 7-Day Breakfast Challenge, Carnation Breakfast Essentials® is encouraging everyone to get into a better breakfast routine and enjoy a nutritious breakfast every day for 7 days. All you have to do is complete simple breakfast missions (you have through the end of February) for chances to win prizes! Sounds easy, right? It is. I have already done a few myself. You can get more recipe ideas and breakfast inspiration on the Carnation Breakfast Essentials® website, or follow along on Facebook.
I am taking the 7-Day Breakfast Challenge to help me do a better job at making a breakfast both my toddler and I will enjoy while still being nutritious (no Fruit Loops here). Just as a family dinner is important, I am trying to make family breakfast important.
It’s a special time in the morning for my kids and I to spend some quality time together before the craziness of the day ensues. This month you might see me posting more breakfast recipes than usual, but I hope you won’t mind too much and that they will inspire you to take the challenge to eat a better breakfast each day.
Take the 7-day #BetterBreakfast challenge starting with this Peaches & Cream Oatmeal recipe! #CarnationSweepstakes Share on XAfter a doctor’s appointment the other day I quickly stopped by my local Wal-Mart to pick up some groceries including, you guessed it, Carnation Breakfast Essentials®. Living in a small town, the regular local grocery store doesn’t always have the items I am looking for.
I can always count on Wal-Mart to have Carnation Breakfast Essentials® in stock. Carnation Breakfast Essentials® can be found on the breakfast aisle and comes in a powder or liquid form. Both are great options and can be used in so many ways!
Oatmeal is one of my go-to breakfasts (see my blueberry coconut oatmeal recipe or read more about my love for oats). Carnation Breakfast Essentials® is a perfect addition to oatmeal, making it creamier while adding flavor and nutrients – perfect for me and perfect for my toddler – a win-win!
This recipe calls for the powder, but you could easily use the ready-to-drink bottles by replacing the almond milk with the Carnation Breakfast Essentials® ready-to-drink liquid and omitting the powder. Either way, both adults and children will enjoy this nutritious breakfast recipe!
