Chocolate Apple Pops are the perfect fall party treat. Mix and match your favorite toppings to make them just to your liking!
It’s that time of year again! The time when all the treats come out. Some people rejoice in this time of year while others cringe at what it might do to their waist lines. I find myself in the middle.
If you’ve read my blog before, you know I love me some treats on occasion. I also love eating healthy. Here’s a secret: It doesn’t have to be all or none. A girl CAN have both worlds! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, moderation is key. And when chocolate is involved, especially dark chocolate, I’ll be sure to get in my moderation. 😉
One good thing about these treats is there is whole fruit involved. This means 1) more nutrients compared to other sugary treats and 2) more fiber! These are pretty easy to make, but I’m warning you they can get messy – especially if you have a toddler trying to help!
Start out by preparing all of your toppings. I like to do this first, so when the apples are dipped in the chocolate I am ready to top them while the chocolate is still warm. After you have prepared your toppings, melt your chocolate. I used these dark chocolate melting wafers (affiliate link).
Next comes slicing your apple. I sliced 2 apples into 8ths and removed the core. Carefully insert wooden caramel apple sticks into each slice. I also used a paper towel to get any extra moisture off the apple slices – this way to chocolate will stick better. As you can see below, when I inserted the stick a couple of mine cracked – but that’s okay. I filled those cracks in with some extra chocolate. #sorrynotsorry
Now that you have everything ready, go ahead and cover those apples in chocolate! Immediately roll in or sprinkle on your desired toppings. Some toppings I chose include dried cranberries, coconut flakes, Halloween sprinkles, chopped pecans and crushed pretzel sticks. All were yummy. You can also mix and match the toppings to create even more tasty combos! I’m pretty sure you could choose just about any topping and it would taste good.
Hosting a Halloween party? Serve these Chocolate Apple Pops! Share on XIf you plan to host or attend a Halloween party this year, you should make these cute and fun Chocolate Apple Pops. Just make sure you make and serve them on the same day because the apples will weep out moisture the longer they sit. Which means I better end this post and go have another pop! I don’t want to waste any food, now do I?
