I’ve been a little sporadic on my posts lately, but I do have my reasons. Summer arrived, a BIG project fell into my lap (more on that later), and life got busy. Now with school back in session and cooler weather arriving, things are still busy, but a little more predictable, which should help me get back to blogging. I wanted to finish this week with this simple, yet delicious flaxseed hummus recipe.
But first, for those of you who have been following me and continue to follow me, despite my lack of consistency in publishing blog posts, I want to say THANK YOU! As I have said before, my family will always come before blogging. With 3 children at home full time this summer, I have been busy.
To add to that, I have written a cookbook! For the past several months, I have been hard at work creating some delicious recipes for you all. The book is now available for to order here. (affiliate link) The official on sale date is December 10, 2019 and I am so excited!
Now back to this simple flaxseed hummus recipe. It’s about as easy as it can get, yet SO yummy! I highly recommend using Manitoba Smooth Milled Flaxseed, it uses the whole flax seed and is SO smooth, blending right in with the hummus.
Is simple flaxseed hummus healthy?
The flaxseed adds fiber, omega 3’s and plant-based protein. In fact, one serving size of flaxseed contains 3 grams of ALA Omega 3’s, 4 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of protein.
Add that to an already healthy and nutrient packed hummus (hello chickpeas!) and you basically have a superfood! Plus, this entire recipe is ready in about 5 minutes. It doesn’t get any easier (or delicious) than this.
How do I make simple flaxseed hummus?
As the name says, it really is so simple to make this recipe.
I use a food processor to make it, but you could probably use a high power blender, too. Add everything in to the bowl, blend until smooth and creamy. Transfer to a bowl, sprinkle with a bit of extra milled flaxseed, then dig in! (affiliate links)I like to dip a variety of veggies, such as carrots, broccoli, celery, jicama, or cauliflower. Pita bread is really good with it, too.
