I never get tired of smoothies. Smoothies are a quick and easy way to get a nutritious breakfast in in the mornings. Granted, I don’t have one every single day, but I do enjoy them often. I love using frozen fruits in my smoothies, especially wild blueberries, because I don’t need to add ice! Plus, the intense flavor and impressive nutrient profile of wild blueberries is something worthy of your smoothie, for sure!
If you haven’t checked out my other wild blueberry smoothies, you should definitely try them out (see the end of the post for links). On those blog posts I go into detail explaining the difference between wild blueberries and regular cultivated blueberries. In a nutshell, there are some BIG differences. Wild blueberries:
- Have more Intense Blueberry Flavor
- Contain 2X more Antioxidants
- Are Frozen at Harvest to lock in all the nutrients
- Are Smaller (pea sized)
- Are Loaded with Double the Fiber
- Come From a Unique Heritage, growing naturally in barrens and fields dating back 10,000 years
If you want to start your day off right, make this smoothie. It is loaded with a whopping 25 grams of protein, 14 grams of fiber, plus all those wild blueberry antioxidants. And speaking of nutrients, this Wild Blueberry Vanilla Breakfast Smoothie will help you get your daily nutrient needs in: it contains 50% of your daily calcium, 30% of your daily iron, 12% of your daily vitamin A and 9% of your daily vitamin C needs. Ummm, yeah – did I mention this is a great way to start your day?! It is. 🙂
